Baccarat is also called Punto Banco because it is the player (Punto) who plays against the Banker (Banco). The objective of the game is to win a hand comprising nine points. All players can bet on Punto or Banco, but if a player has the Banco role then he or she can only bet on those results. There is a device called a Shoe which holds several card packs and it remains with the same player so long as Banco is winning. When Punto wins, the Shoe is passed to the following player in the game. As the Banco player, you will pay 5% of the Baccarat games.
How to play
• The dealer gives you two cards and holds another two.
• Each party looks at their hands, hoping to get as close to nine as possible. In the case that both have nine, there is a re-deal of cards.
• Getting an eight or nine is called having a 'Natural'. Should you get low scoring cards (say a 2 and 3) then the casino may allow you to get a 3 rd card. Different casinos have different rules about this.
• You win when your cards come closest to nine in value.
Rules
1) You only use cards up to 9 in value. Aces are values low, at 1.
2) You ignore card suits and only the numbers are important. 3) If your cards reach double figures (like 15) then only the left digit is recognized - in this case 5.
